And the walls come tumblin' down...

Day 1 - Demo Day

This is the before photo

This is the after, shot from a slightly different angle.  However, I'm sure the "glorious" chandelier will give you some perspective.

We started off day one with an empty dumpster and lots of enthusiasm.  I was amazed how quickly demolition goes!  We tore out carpets, removed the baseboards and moldings, took out some walls and even had time to clean up the yard some.

I'm so very thankful for my brother-in-law Chris and nephew Tilson.  They were a huge help!  Chris and Mark having grown up on a ranch have the ability to lift more than I would ever imagine.  I would try to carry out a chunk of drywall, barely being able to drag it with two hands.  Along came Mark or Chris who would pick it up seemingly one handed and easily toss it in the dumpster.

Tilson had the job of removing all interior doors.  He asked us twice if we really wanted all of them removed.  We said yes.  After he was done, someone had to go potty.  Oops, no door.  Well, that could be a bit awkward...

Here is a picture of the dumpster at the end of day 1.  Keep in mind, this is a 20 yard dumpster.  They consider this an "industrial sized" model.  Yikes!  (If you look just beyond the dumpster, you will see our Church.  I think we will be very happy here.)  :-)
